New AVA coming to Southwest Washington State
The Mount St. Helens American Viticultural Area (AVA) is now in "Pending Status".
The Southwest Washington Winery Association, after several years of research and collaborative efforts by members, submitted a petition to the Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), a wing of the US Department of the Treasury, to establish an American Viticultural Area (AVA) in parts of southwest Washington. The new AVA would include parts of Clark, Cowlitz, Lewis, and Skamania Counties that lie at 1200 ft elevation or lower. There are over 140 acres of vineyards presently in this region, and over 30 wineries.

Rezabek Vineyards and Daybreak Cellars are located about a half hour drive north of the Portland airport. The picturesque vineyards are on gentle south-facing slopes just north of the Lewis River in Clark County in Southwest Washington State. At an elevation of just under 400 feet, the soils are deep alluvial Hesson clay-loam brought into the area thousands of years ago by the floods from Glacial Lake Missoula. The cool moist winter climate and warm, sunny summers make ideal growing conditions for cool climate, premium wine grapes, such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc among others.
The vineyard land at one time was home to a blueberry orchard and before that, a dairy farm. Our first crush was in 2012. We now offer a variety of wines including an estate sparkling wine, red and white blends, Viognier, Tempranillo, Rosé, and a delicious Port-style wine. Join us for a tasting, a glass or a bottle soon. Our Tasting Room is open weekends and by appointment.
